Debating Science Issues

On the 17th December, four year 12 students -  Rachel, Jemma, Michael and Ciaran along with their teacher Mrs Hassan, visited the University of Ulster in Jordanstown to take part in the prestigious Debating Science Issues competition.

DSI – Debating Science Issues is a dynamic debating competition which invites young people to engage in debate on the cultural, societal and ethical implications of advances in biomedical science.

Coordinated by 9 research, medical and science centres in Ireland, Debating Science Issues is what true debate is all about.

Their opponents came from Our Lady and St. Patrick’s, Knock and the topic of debate was Embryonic Stem Cell Research.

This experience encouraged our students to take an active interest in biomedical science and to engage in contemporary research. More Pictures.
